Internationally known as "Artist Chato", he expresses his creative talents in many diverse genres. Educated in Fine Art and World Music. Actor and elected Secretary SAG AFTRA of locals San Diego 2012-2020. Writes under the name "Ruben H. Chato" as published Author.

He has traveled in over 18 countries and honorably served in the United States Navy both in peacetime and wartime. Ruben applies his quote "Be a peaceful Warrior in the path of life, but be a fierce Warrior in the path of fight", in everyday life. His love for humanity, military, animals, and volunteering for many charitable organizations are just some of the reasons Artist Chato donates some of his artwork to Fundraising causes.

ARTIST / Known as CHATO in the artist community educations are in Honors World Music, Fine Art, Honors Art History, Acting, and studied several foreign languages including French and Spanish. He attended Mesa Community College and is well-known for his Eagle and Hawk sculptures titled Nalwod from his series. He was awarded 1st Place Award in Sculpture for Southern California College completions in 2002, 2003 at Mesa College while studying with Professor Ross Stockwell, as well as several student exhibitions. Chato’s mentor in sculpture is nature and its wildlife, because he believes that nature and its beautiful wildlife all many sculptures yet to be created in his lifetime. His upcoming visions in sculpture will include people in all life together, since it is in our hands to preserve nature and its wildlife our children to enjoy. He always says that his visions in sculpture come from a power from above, which is given to him by our loving Creator of the universe. He studied Studio Fine Art with Swedish Professor Anita Brynolf who is also an artist mentor.

ACTOR / Known as Ruben H. Chato is multi-talented and diverse creativity is expressed as an Actor, Artist, and Writer; he has recently been featured in the epic western filmed in San Diego titled “The Sorrow” with expected release in Summer 2012 starring Michael Madsen, and John Savage, along with Ruben H. Chato as the principle role of Yellow Bear which is directed by Vernon Mortensen with Unconventional Films at unfilms.com. Ruben H. Chato spent several weeks with Larry Banegas from Barona Indian Reservation in San Diego learning the Kumeyaay Native language for his role on the film “The Sorrow”. Ruben H. Chato was a Producer and actor in the film “SWITCHBOARD” and FETCH 3D which were directed by Ambika Leigh 2011. He was also featured in the horror film “Kill Katie Malone” 2010 featuring Dean Kane directed by Carlos Ramos.

AUTHOR / Working under the writer name of Ruben H. Chato he has been writing stories since his teenage years and has now registered his stories the Writers Guild of America (WGA). He served honorably in the US Navy for almost 10 years, which allowed him to travel in over 20 different countries in the world, with much pride in sharing his Apache heritage with other cultures. He is a Veteran of Foreign Wars, with an Honorable Discharge, at the rank of First Class Petty Officer E-6/ DC1 (SW). He served in many diverse US Navy operations as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) in duty stations Little Creek, Virginia / Seal Beach, California / Coronado, California, and the Panama Canal. His duties included operating and in support of the Special Operations Commands, Amphibious Surface Warfare Fleet, Waterborne Coastal Patrol Forces, Physical Security Law Enforcement teams, US Coast Guard Drug & Pirate Operations, Underwater Construction Teams, Navy Divers, and Special Boats Unit (SWCC) Commandos, in support of the elite Navy SEALs.
